I have such an appreciation for Bednarik. There isn’t a lane he won’t barrel through with pace if there’s even a remote chance of a play to be made. Despite that, he doesn’t seem to often taken unnecessary risks, making him such a dependable player that ups the energy and heart level of any line he plays on.

The first goal of the game was scored off a well-positioned turnover by Bednarik where he knocked a puck out of the air and moved the puck up the boards quickly. By the time he joined back in the play, he filled the slot area and found the top corner. I thought his game was consistently heavy on the forecheck and he got under the skin of a few players throughout.

Getting things started nice and early in this one, it only took Kamil Bednarik about three and a half minutes to open the scoring with a shorthanded goal. His relentless forechecking was put into practice and he was able to snatch the puck from the defender behind the net and quickly pop out front on a wrap-around and caught Leenders off guard. Throughout the game Bednarik made it his mission to terrorize puck carriers and force them into turning the puck over to himself or one of his supporting forecheckers. Seeing some time on the powerplay as well, Bednarik was able to show off his powerful wrister where he nearly pocketed a second goal as he got a few nice chances from in the slot. He was something of a catalyst for the Americans in this one and fully deserved to get on the board.

The American powerplay loves Kamil Bednarik playing the goal line bumper role, and once again he proves his worth in that role. His ability to skillfully catch the puck and either one-touch pass back to the wing/point or handle into the slot for a shot or pass has been noteworthy and his assist is no exception to that. A goal line reception turned into a cross-slot pass right to a wide open Humphreys.

Kamil Bednarik had himself quite the debut performance, tallying two primary points while involving himself in numerous high-end plays throughout the sixty played minutes. His first point was a primary assist as Bednarik was the setup man to the tournament’s first goal, a quick pass from the perimeter towards the right circle that gave Ziemer the space he needed for the goal. The second was a skilled powerplay goal as Bednarik received the puck as the bumper at the goal line before proceeding to stickhandle his way to the net front and fire a shot.
