Scouting Report
EVALUATED 08/09/2020TPE Hockey
The combination of skills that Quinton Byfield has, shoved into an imposing frame, makes him a unicorn of a player. He dominates the game with his sheer power, standing at 6’4” 215lbs he is still able to play the game at 100 miles an hour. Byfield is an exemplary skater, being able to play at high speed while maintaining agility and edgework. His fancy dangles and generally quick and smart hands are amplified by a massive wingspan. The Newmarket native has no problem beating defenders one on one with just his hands and feet, but when challenged he utilizes his size and body position expertly to make due. Byfield has an undoubtedly scoring touch though a strong shot that takes advantage of his size to gain tons of leverage into each release along with an obvious net front presence. While a dangerous scoring threat, Byfield has been more of a playmaker in junior hockey with Sudbury. He uses the extra attention he gets in the offensive zone to lead defenders out of position and capitalize on the lanes that open up, allowing for wowing passes leading to dangerous scoring opportunities.
